Government expects food price growth on rising diesel fuel costs

MOSCOW, Feb 11 (PRIME) – Russia’s agricultural product costs may rise because of higher diesel fuel prices, Pavel Burak, deputy director of the crop department at the Agriculture Ministry, said late on Thursday.

"We see a price increase by about 5% since the start of 2022,” Burak said, referring to fuel.

“If this growth persists, we may have to pay it close attention, because this might trigger an increase of the agricultural product prices."

He also said that there is no deficit of supplies, but the prices are worrying, because the winter fuel costs grew by 25–30% on the year, and diesel fuel grew by 17–24% by the start of preparation for spring sowing.
